Alhaji Mohammed Baba, who was recently appointed by the Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, as the Secretary to the State Government, has been sworn in.
Also sworn in were Abubakar Kari as the Chief of Staff to Governor and Bashir Yau as the Deputy Chief of Staff in the Office of the Deputy Governor.
The swearing in was performed by the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Rabi Umar, who was represented by Justice Adamu Kafin Madaki, at an event held at the Government House, Bauchi on Monday.
In his speech, Governor, Bala Mohammed said the swearing-in marks the effective take-off of the machinery of government in the state.
He said that now that the campaigns and the elections are over, it is now time for serious business of governance adding that it is compulsory for all government officials to strive to deliver on their promises and meet expectations.
He said, “The good people of Bauchi have given our party, the People’s Democratic Party, a mandate to stir the affairs of the state for the next four years. This is a clear testimony that they want to put behind them, the years of misrule, cluelessness and mismanagement of state resources.
“Governance is all about security, improvement of socioeconomic well-being of the generality of the people, aimed at improving the quality of life of the people.
“It is, therefore, only natural for our people to expect the provision of these basic needs from the government. For the government to meet these expectations, it needs to have in place competent, knowledgeable, experienced, trusted and committed people, to help in the formulation and implementation of its policies and programmes.”
