Democracy Day: Bauchi Government Celebrates With Less Privileged

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed has pledged to pay fines for children remanded at the Bauchi state remand home for various offenses.

The governor made the pledge when he visited the less privileged people as part of activities to mark Democracy Day in Bauchi.June 12 was proclaimed as Democracy Day by President Muhammadu Buhari, to reflect on democracy struggles in Nigeria.

Though the day was not elaborately celebrated in Bauchi state, the state governor, Senator Bala Mohammed shared the moment with orphans, inmates and the less privileged.
The governor visited Bauchi state remand home where he pledged to pay fines for some juveniles in custody for various offenses.

He was also at the Bauchi prison. The 500 capacity Bauchi Prison has 951 inmates with 805 awaiting trial a development the governor said his administration would work with relevant authorities to decongest.
